We provide creative design services and construction consultation for our visionary clients in the South East of the US.
We pride ourselves in drawing inspirations from a vast world-wide landscape of contemporary design and strive to learn, innovate, and add to the canon of an enriching built environment right at our doorsteps. We are passionately focused on exploring the sensory experience of space, texture, light, and structure. We look at how these qualities help to create livable surroundings that provide a sense of beauty, richness, warmth, depth, and lasting happiness.

With more than two decades of professional experience as a multidisciplinary designer, Mikale designs spaces and experiences by studying how things connect—visually, spatially, and through human interaction. Their focus is on work that is thoughtful, usable, and quietly confident.
As Design & Brand Director at Wittehaus, Mikale leads the integration of architecture, branding, and experiential design. Mikale received their Master of Architecture from the David R. Ravin School of Architecture at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. Grounded in architectural training and guided by human-centered principles, Mikale approaches every project with the belief that design should communicate intent and build lasting value.
Away from the studio, Mikale can be found training for the next half-marathon, exploring new creative terrain through painting, and spending quiet time at home with their spouse, Gretchen, four cats, and a horse.

Over three decades of experience in design and construction informs Toby Witte’s internationally acclaimed work. German by heritage and upbringing and born in Peru, Toby has studied and practiced architecture, building science, drafting, and construction in both Germany and the United States.
After working with various architecture, engineering, and construction firms, Toby graduated cum laude from the David R. Ravin School of Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He subsequently led his design/build companies, Dialect Design and Qube11, for over a decade before founding Wittehaus in 2017.
Toby and Wittehaus have received numerous awards, including the Medal and Henry Adams Certificate of Merit from the American Institute of Architects, the North Carolina Modernist Houses Matsumoto Prize, Build Magazine’s Design & Build Award for “Most Innovative Architecture and Design Firm, North Carolina,” the Communicator Award of Distinction from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, the BLT Award for Architectural Design, and the Architecture MasterPrize.
Forbes featured Wittehaus on its list of America’s Top 200 Residential Architects. Toby’s homes have also appeared in numerous publications, including Dwell, Architectural Digest, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. His work has been showcased in exhibitions such as “HOUSEing” at the AIA Center for Architecture and Design in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Toby is the distinguished author of Supersizing Bliss: How We Have Betrayed Our Homes and the Happiness We Seek, an award-winning book exploring how we have come to regard the houses we live in, offering ideas and insights into their creation and the potential for lasting happiness. Following the success of his book, Toby has become a keynote speaker, including at the AIA Aspire Conference in Asheville, North Carolina. He is also a frequent podcast guest, sharing his thoughts on the world of modern homes.
Committed to sharing his expertise with the next generation of architects, Toby has been invited back to his alma mater to serve occasionally as a guest lecturer and part-time adjunct professor. He has also been invited to serve as a judge for architectural design competitions.
To continue learning, growing, and contributing to the profession, Toby has been active in the American Institute of Architects, the National Organization of Minority Architects, Brick & Wonder, and EntreArchitect. He also serves on the board of the Green Built Alliance.
When Toby puts down his pencil, he immerses himself in a vibrant family life centered around his wife, Liz, an early education teacher; their three powerhouse daughters; and four cats. He cooks, reads, travels, plays two chords on the guitar, and loves a good beer.
Toby is available for public speaking engagements in an effort to reveal the insights from his book Supersizing Bliss and lessons learned from designing, building, and selling modern, energy-efficient homes in the Carolinas.
